WI State Rep. Calls For Safety Study Of U.S. 41
A Wisconsin lawmaker has requested a safety study on a rural stretch of U.S. 41 after another fatal accident last month.
Represenative John Nygren (R-Marinette) requested the Wisconsin Department of Transportation conduct a safety study along Highway 41 between Peshtigo and Marinette. According to Rep. Nygren, that stretch of highway has always been dangerous, however the fatalities have risen in the past few years. This includes seven fatalities in 2012 on Marinette County roads, three in August 2012 on U.S. Highway 41 from collisions.
Nygren hopes the study can result in recommendations to hep make the highway safer, but still allowing traffic to flow freely throw there. According to reports, they are planning a study of the highway beginning in 2013.
