Marquette Student Seriously Injured In Balcony Fall

A 21-year-old Marquette student was reportedly in critical condition after a fall from a balcony at an off-campus apartment early Friday morning.

The accident happened in the 1500 block of W. Kilbourn Ave. just after 2 a.m. Officials said the student fell when the railing he was leaning on gave out and he fell several floors.

Whbl.com said the apartment’s landlord reported the company has owned the building for 30 years and this is the first incident of this kind they have had. The building had been inspected by city officials two months ago and the minor violations that were found had been corrected.

The student was taken to a local hospital where he is receiving medical treatments.
