Child Critically Injured By Unlicensed Driver

A child is in grave condition after being hit by a minivan Tuesday afternoon in Milwaukee.

According to reports, the 6-year-old darted out in traffic near N. 51st just before 5:30 Tuesday afternoon, on the city's north side. Initially the boy was reported dead, but it was corrected to say he was in grave condition.

The boy was taken to Children's Hospital of Wisconsin with head injuries. The driver was a 22-year-old who was driving without a valid license. He was charged with operating without a license while causing great bodily harm.
